Nature already gives us everything we need for effective skincare. That’s why we reject synthetic shortcuts, harsh chemicals, and questionable additives. Our NO List is our promise: over 1,300 ingredients you’ll never find in Brewing Beauty products — from parabens and petrochemicals to artificial colors and fragrances.

Instead, we use only natural preservatives, plant-based colors, and botanical fragrances to keep our products safe, effective, and kind to your skin.

We never use harsh or controversial preservatives linked to irritation or long-term health risks.

  • Parabens (methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, butylparaben, etc.)
  • Formaldehyde
  • Formaldehyde-releasing preservatives (DMDM hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea, quaternium-15, etc.)
  • Methylisothiazolinone (MIT)
  • Phenoxyethanol
  • Triclosan

We avoid petroleum-derived ingredients that clog pores, harm the planet, and fail to biodegrade.

  • Petrochemical-derived ingredients (paraffinum liquidum, mineral oil, petrolatum, paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax, etc.)
  • Glycol ethers
  • Ethoxylates (polyethylene glycol, PEGs, etc.)
  • Alkylphenols

We reject artificial scents and hidden fragrance chemicals that may cause sensitivities.

  • Synthetic fragrances (parfum)
  • Artificial flavours
  • Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Lilial)
  • Synthetic musks (nitro musks, polycyclic musks, etc.)

We only use naturally sourced pigments, never synthetic dyes linked to irritation or toxicity.

  • Synthetic/petroleum-derived colorants (coal tar dyes, azo dyes, nitro dyes)
  • Resorcinol (used in some hair dyes, linked to irritation and endocrine disruption)

We don’t use harsh cleansing agents that strip away skin’s natural protective oils.

  • Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS)
  • Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES)
  • Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate
  • Sodium myreth sulfate
  • Ammonium lauryl sulfate

We avoid synthetic film-formers that give a false smooth feel but don’t truly nourish skin.

  • Silicones (methicone, etc.)
  • Cyclopentasiloxane
  • Coco-caprylate/caprate
  • Oleyl erucate
  • Oleyl linoleate
  • Decyl oleate

We reject chemical UV filters that are harmful to both your health and marine ecosystems.

  • Benzophenone
  • Oxybenzone
  • Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate
  • 4-methylbenzylidene camphor
  • PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid)

We keep out substances with a track record of toxicity or high concern for human health.

  • Phthalates
  • Aluminium or aluminium salts
  • Ammonia
  • Mercury and mercury compounds
  • Toluene
